Oyster House in New Orleans

What a location and atmosphere! Views are awesome. Stopped here along a foodie tour and while the group had a PO Boy, they made me some Fried Green Tomatoes, they were delicious as that was my first time eating them... Hurricane was also amazing

Seafood etoufee and fish stuffed with crawfish. The cocktails we're pretty good too. Tasty comforting food without being greasy. Great service

Alex was an amazing server!! She was attentive to our needs. We were a big group and can be loud. She joined in on the fun and made us feel welcome. She took the order perfectly and read it back so there was no issues. Everything came out great and tasted great. Ty for making our night a special one! We look forward to coming back next year!

Spend a week trying various restaurants and locations around the French Quarter, comparing it to other (similar) restaurants around the area this one by far had the largest portion sizes for the price paid. Not too expensive and actually filled us up. Red beans and rice came with fried chicken tenders and smoked sausage on it. Would recommend since it is close to Bourbon St and the rest of the French Quarter.

Extremely disappointed in our experience. Waited over an hour and a half for our food with no acknowledgement from any staff or manager that this was out of the ordinary. When the food did finally arrive, neither order was prepared correctly and still no acknowledgement of the wait. There are too many other options for good food and atmosphere in the French Quarter for us to ever consider going back.

Stumbled upon this place randomly with my wife. We looked at the menu outside and decided to pop in for some appetizers. We had the spinach and artichoke with fried bowtie pasta, which was superb! The corn and crab bisque and fried green tomatoes were not the best I've ever had, however it was still very good. The restaurant had a bar and an open seating arrangement, with tables inside or outside. The service was very quick and our waitress was very attentive and nice. Overall my experience was good and I would recommend you try it at least once. I will be coming here again. I only took off one star because a drop of water from the ceiling fell from a pipe onto the back of my shirt while I was sitting at my table inside and I was concerned about whether or not this was happening to my food. Otherwise, the place was fairly clean!

Pretty good value for where they are. I was certainly surprised at the size of the meat pies. Service was good, nice room.

Good drinks and better food!

So good, we went back a second time. They have their own unique cocktail menu but the spinach artichoke dip with deep fried bowtie pasta was decadent.

Nice staff and environment. Very good crawfish mac-n-cheese!

So many good food choices in this town. Only place we went to twice. Chargrilled oysters and barbecue shrimp were awesome! Raul was an awesome bar tender. If the owner reads these, you should give him a raise

We had a large group meeting here. They were very helpful to work with, food was great, service was great. It was a really good experience all around.

Very quant with friendly staff. Only ate appetizers, but they were yummy. We essentially created our own sampler and I consider it a win. The fried alligator was on the chewy side, but overall it was a great meal.

If you want to get away from the crowds on Bourbon St. Stop in this little dive bar. Didn't eat but got a couple strong rum drinks. Bartender was nice and gave us recommendations of other off Bourbon local places to hit.

The food was so good! And it is also pet-friendly so if you need to eat, and you are around this area and you have a pet, I recommend going here.

Pet friendly indeed! I walked in with my pitbull and got seated immediately. Staff was super friendly and ready to help. Food was absolutely delicious! Over all 15/10 stars! This will be a regular place to visit from now on.

Omg. We loved the Chartres house! The food and drinks were excellent! My son raved about the cheeseburger!!! The Cajun Mary was Awesome! My husband loved his food too!!! We happened to be walking down the street and stopped to look at the menu. It looked good and the staff was very welcoming! I’m glad we went in! The restaurant is pretty close to the river and the near the St Louis Cathedral as well. We will go back for sure!!!! Excellent experience! 🍹🍔

Authentic Cajun restaurant with amazing food and even better service. We were happily greeted from the start and given a comfy table by one of the open sets of French doors, which was perfect for people-watching and giving our pup a cool break after a long day of walking. The servers and other guests were super accommodating of our dog, doting on him and asking us if they could give him treats and pets, which of course we obliged!Our server, Renee, was top-notch and made our experience everything we hoped for. She was the epitome of what we expected from New Orleans: laidback, funny, helpful, and best of all, prompt with our food and drinks. She even allowed me to charge my phone in the crew break room while we ate, and delivered it back to me when we were finishing up without me having to say anything.I would definitely recommend Chartres for anyone searching for a dog-friendly sitdown restaurant in NOLA. All in all, the food is excellent and the atmosphere is unmatched!

This was our first meal upon arriving in New Orleans, recommended by our Lyft driver as a good example of Cajun food. We weren't disappointed. Service was great, welcoming us in as we approached. We had deliciously fresh oysters two ways: raw and broiled. I had good red fish Chartres House style (topped with bbq gulf shrimp) and my boys had a shrimp po' boy and jambalaya. Tasty stuff. There was also a good selection of local beers. All of this is just a short walk from Jackson Square. We would go back.

No reservation. Fast service. Waitress was lovely. Went there for a hendo. Ordered only apps and drinks. Great time. Long wait for bathroom.

We were there for a group gathering. Food was delicious, service so friendly and timely, plus we had entertainment from a local cajun duet of fiddler and guitarist. My sangria was top notch. Thank you for hosting our large group.Ladies bathroom latch has got to be repaired!!

Hand down the best food that I ate in New Orleans! I ordered the roast beef po-boy because the staff suggested it, and it was incredible. The oysters that they served us were some of the freshest oysters that I have ever eaten. On top of it all, the staff was friendly and prompt.

We went primarily because we needed a dog-friendly place to eat a late lunch, and we were not disappointed. Food was delicious, there were plenty of drink options, and best of all we received outstanding service.

For being the first new Orleans restaurant I've been too I was extremely impressed the appetizers were excellent especially the crawfish bread. The jambalaya and stuffed fish were great the drinks were cold and strong definitely a great restaurant

Nice authentic-y New Orleans bar with typical food and drink options and backyard. Had some fun here on a busy Saturday in March. Steps away from the ultra-busy Jackson square area and never-quiet bourbon street. A second line came passing by. I ate a bugler with blue cheese and bacon and my wife had the gumbo. Both were great! Super local beer options and fancy drinks too. Bartender Aaron was a character.

As tourists, my fiancé and I were curious to try Cajun food so we decided to eat dinner here. The setting has a nice comfy feel with a full bar, oyster bar, and open doors. It gets a little cold so I'd recommend a jacket. We were greeted right away and the servers were able to help with recommendations. My ordered the Cajun Pasta while my fiancé ordered the shrimp po-boy. The pasta was a safe choice but it was so good! So good that I had to share with my fiancé. The shrimp po-boy was overfilled with crispy shrimp, I had to give it a try myself. I would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting NOLA.

Very good food, great atmosphere, nicely priced. The Fried Green Tomato Chips, Duck Empanadas, Crab Bisque and Buttery Pecan Pie are delicious! Servers are pleasant and attentive ... this is a regular spot for us. We can expect a good meal regardless what we order. Just wish the portions were larger.

OMGGGG this place was suggested by Google as the best jambalaya and it DEFINITELY WAS! Shane the general manager was at the bar and his manners and persona was wonderful!

The food was pretty good with large portions and good flavor. The service was not so good. The place wasn't busy but they got the order wrong and it took a long time to get our order.

On my first night in the French Quarter I stumbled upon this place. At first I thought it was a little pricey, but when the food came out I was proven wrong. Probably the best place I ate at in New Orleans. The gumbo was even better than that at The Gumbo Shop. The food was beyond delicious! The wait staff was friendly and the atmosphere was calm and relaxed; even though the food was upscale. Definitely would come back next time I’m in the area!

Sat down to rest after lots of walking in the French Quarter. We had appetizers and cocktails. Drinks were good. The appetizers were fabulous.

Pet friendly :) View and street traffic is nice flow here! Plan some time as it is not fast food by any means, but the bread pudding is so crispy on top and has such a smooth texture, takes 15 mins so put order in early. Highly recommend!!!!!

Best Food I've Ever Had and add Boudin Balls

Absolutely delicious! The alligator was amazing and the taste and texture of it is somewhere between a really mild shrimp or crawdads and chicken. Bit spendy but worth going at least once!

What a great place! We actually stopped in with a party of four and we all got different appetizers so that we could get a great variety and taste more of the city has to offer. We will be back to try a full meal. The staff is so friendly and fun and made great suggestions for all of us. The atmosphere is great and in tune with the area. We will definitely be back when we are in the area again.
